oracleasm utility in Oracle

Oracle ASM library (ASMLib) driver

ASMLIB is a storage management interface. ASMLIB is not required for ASM to function; it is like an add-on library that simplifies the tasks of managing and discovering the disks.

ASMLIB provides more information about the disk attributes enabling easy discovery of disks. Avoids disks being added to one node and not been discovered by other nodes in the cluster.

ASMLIB enables more efficient IO.
